Pau Golf Club 1856 in Béarn Pyrénées
The 18-hole course Pau Golf Club has existed since 1856, making it the oldest golf course in Europe outside of the British Isles. It was built by the architect William Dunn Senior, and spreads across the Billère plain, bordered by the Gave de Pau river. The Pau Gold Club lies at the foot of the Pyrenees and has conserved its charming ‘so British’ atmosphere to the delight of all golf enthusiasts. This is a historical must-do, a legacy of the British community which settled in Pau and brought its customs and traditional sports, especially golf.
Golf Blue Green Pau Artiguelouve in Béarn Pyrénées
The Golf Blue Green Pau Artiguelouve offers an outstanding view of the Pyrenees mountain range. This technical course, laid out in natural settings designed by Jean Garaïalde is a challenge for beginners and experts alike.
The 18-hole course is located at the foot of the Pyrenees, only 6km from the town of Pau and its castle, and 1km form the medieval town of Lescar. It is laid out in natural settings, with seven water hazards and a 6-hole driving range. The driving range is on lawn and putting mat (covered).
The first 6 holes, in a wooded area known as ‘La Saligue’ are narrow and highly tactical and require great accuracy. The next 12 holes are located on open ground, ‘La Plaine’, where you can let yourself go with long shots.
